Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. She is best known as the main character in the 1984 Prince Purple Rain film and lead singer in the girl-group Apollonia 6 The actress and singer was named Apollonia by Prince and became one of the many female musicians in the '80s that benefited from her connection with Prince, the Purple One. Patricia Kotero began her acting and modeling career in Santa Monica California, in the latter part of the 1970s. She also appeared on CHiPS. She was the lead female for Prince's Purple Rain in 1984 (at which point he had changed the name of her). In the same year, she took over Vanity in the form of the group Vanity 6 and was a part of their brand name Apollonia 6 in the film. Sex Shooter was a minor hit for the group, however she made a greater impact as Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You on the soundtrack. After a falling out over the direction of her career Apollonia 6 broke up, and Kotero ended her association with Prince. Kotero was in a few minor films during the time however, she was not able to take part in the Purple Rain sequel Under the Cherry Moon. From 1985 to 1986 she was offered a role on the show called Falcon Crest. Apollonia made her official debut in 1988. But the R&B/dance album it was a bit stale and failed to make a big impression with the music buyers of the time, quickly vanished. She stayed active, if she wasn't in the spotlight acting in the decade, albeit with minor appearances in films and on television. An exercise DVD came out.
